My favorite Disney princess has always been Belle. At first, I thought it was because we shared the same brunette hair, brown eyes, and love for reading. But after I took a personality quiz, I discovered some shocking results: we have the same personality type.
(Which Disney Princess are you most like? Check out our Quiz!)
After that life-changing moment, I have become even more like Belle than ever before. When I heard Disney was making a live-action version of Cinderella, I mentally begged them to do Beauty and the Beast next.
Am I good or what?
“Now say, money is raining from the sky!!! Say it!” (Bonus points if you know what that quote is from! The answer is at the bottom of this post. ;)
Whilst I wait with bated breath to see Emma Watson shine in the spotlight as my favorite optimistic, lit-loving princess, I’d like to share with you ideas for a Beauty and the Beast party! And this ain’t no two-year-old pre-school party . . . it’s stylish and sophisticated and I might even steal my own ideas and use it for my eighteenth birthday party, so there. ;)
Step one. The closet. We all know that Belle has an amazing fashion sense. So our first step, naturally, is to put together an outfit that Belle would approve of! Check out some of these ideas from Disney Bound!
Next, we must gather up the balloons because I am a balloon fiend and I do not apologize. The Beauty and the Beast colors are yellow and blue, so grab yourselves some yellow and blue balloons.
Ask your mom if you can borrow her tea set then run away laughing evilly! The painfully inanimate tea set will obviously symbolize Mrs. Potts and Chip. Bonus points if you have a chipped cup (do not, I repeat, DO NOT break your mom’s tea set THIS WILL RESULT IN PERMANENT DEATH that is permanent. And did I mention permanent?! Permanent is probably painful. So noooo!)
Set out a cute tablecloth (and yes I mean cloth, none of that cheap-o plasticky stuff this, this is a real tea party!)
Check out this adorable garland, which fits perfectly with the color scheme. (It is Dutch, and it's for a wedding, which means that it's gonna be cool! :D)
Also, grab some of those vintage books you have sitting around no doubt and stack them up in the center of the table for a cutesy centerpiece.
No Beauty and the Beast party is complete without music to set the mood! Check out some of the tracks below that will help transport your boring old living room into a far away fairy-tale land.
Ahh. This glorious instrumental version of our favorite classic brings SO MANY FEELS.
Um, could this little princess possibly get any cuter?! :o
Woah. Time for a throwback! This 90's pop version by Jump5 is sure to get your party hoppin'.
A modern twist on an old favorite. Be Our Guest 2.0.
The Disney's Fairytale Weddings album's is pretty much a must have for anyone who wants to play classy dinner music at their party. These tunes bring a whimsical nod toward everyone's favorite Disney moments.
Check it out on Amazon! As mentioned above, this ain't no pre-school party! So before you skip over this section thinking we're going to suggest "Pin the Tail on the Beast", stop and think again. These ideas are perfect for friends who like to have a "Dreamy far off look, with her nose stuck in a book."
Beauty and the Beast Book Swap
Ask your guests to bring a used book or two to the party, and have a book swap! Used books are a party favor that everyone will love. You can either trade the books in a calm, civilized manner, or you can try this fun game.
How the Game Works
Ask your guests to bring the used books which they'd like to give away, already wrapped. Have everyone sit in a circle and place the presents in the middle. Take turns rolling the dice. Depending on which number you get, that tells you which action you need to take, and which present you'll end up with.
1 - "Safe in the Library". Congrats, Belle! You get to choose a book from the library and keep it for the rest of the game! Nobody can seal your book because you're safe in the library.
2 - "Gaston Swap". No one walks like Gaston, or talks like Gaston...and apparently swaps like Gaston. You get to make a swap with anyone and trade it out for the book that you really want. After all, Gaston always gets what he wants, right?
3 - "Mrs. Potts Pass". Kindly switch your book with the person on the right.
4 - "Chip Pass". Sweetly switch your book with the person on the left.
5 - "Beast's Gift". Congrats! You get to open your present and see which book you've gotten. If the book in your lap is already unwrapped, roll again.
6 - "Earthquake!" All of France is shaking! Everyone must pass their book to the person on their right. (Unless of course you're Belle, and safe in the library. Belle doesn't need to give up her book.)
7 - "Maurice's Choice". Belle's Father Maurice is kind and thoughtful. As Maurice, you get to choose someone to open their gift.
8 - "Earthquake!" All of France is shaking! Everyone must pass their book to the person on their left. (Unless of course you're Belle, and safe in the library.)
9 - "Beast's Gift". Congrats! You get to open your present and see which book you've gotten. If the book in your lap is already unwrapped, roll again.
10 - "Chip Pass". Sweetly switch your book with the person on the left.
11 - "Gaston Swap". You get to make a swap with anyone and trade it out for the book that you really want.
12- "Safe in the Library". Congrats, Belle! You get to choose a book from the library and keep it for the rest of the game! Nobody can seal your book because you're safe in the library.
Keep taking turns rolling the dice until every book has been opened! After the final wrapping paper has been torn, the game is over. :D
The Secret Sticker Game
Okay, so this idea might be a tad bit juvenile. But extremely fun. When your guests arrive give theme each a sheet of Disney Princess stickers. The object of the game is for each guest to secretly place their stickers on others throughout the party, without them noticing. The first person to empty their sticker sheet wins!
An adorable prize for the winner could be this unique sheet of Beauty and the Beast stickers. (Totally geeking out right now over how cute they are. You can fine 'em on Etsy.)
Belle's Dress Designers
We've all played the classic "Dress up the bride in a gown made of toilet paper" game. So why not break out this party favorite?! All you need is a whole lot of toilet paper and some creative guests. Divide into teams and have each team choose their "Belle." Then, give each team an allotted amount of time to magically recreate her famous gown. This race against time is sure to bring on a whole lot of laughter.
If you're looking for some inspiration for your gown, look no further! I'm kind of freaking out with excitement. YOU GUYS, IT'S A REAL LIVE BELLE DRESS. It's not exactly affordable. BUT STILL. It's absolutely swoon worthy.
This DRESS will make you feel like you're three-years-old again!Costume Contest
Whoever says you're too old to dress up is just, well...wrong. And boring. Clearly they've lost touch with their inner child. :P
Ask your guests to come dressed as their favorite Disney character! (Or in an outfit inspired by.)
Remind them that they don't have to come up in a full blown costume if they don't want to. Websites such as Disneybound and Pinterest offer all sorts of fun outfit inspired ideas and color schemes to go with their favorite character.
If you truly want to be the Belle of your ball, and find something classy and yellow, I did some looking for you. I am completely in love with this modest, 1950's style gown! And wow, it's actually affordable too.
1950s Retro Vintage Cap Sleeve Cocktail DressThe Storytelling Game
For this game, provide a pile of novels from your book shelf. The more variety, the better! Ask a guest to choose a book from the pile, and copy the first sentence onto a sheet of paper. Then, they pass the paper to the person on their right, and they add a line. The sheet of paper continues to get passed around, as the story grows.
For extra fun, have two or three stories going at once. It will be harder to keep track of, but also bring out the random and silly side of your wanna-be-writers!
This is a great game to play throughout the remainder of your party. Then, before everyone leaves, read the story out loud! Laugh at how wacky it has gotten, and enjoy this fun little piece of compiled brain work from your friends.
Who Said It
Print out a list of quotes from your favorite books and movies. Quiz your friends on who said what! Reward them with points for correct answers. The most points wins!
Fangirl Over Your Favorite Books
Pour everyone a cup of tea and take time to discuss your favorite books. I mean, come on; Beauty and the Beast is pretty much an
advertisement for furthering the literary revolution. And I say CHARGGGGGGE!
(BTW, if you're looking for an amazing list of great books for Christian books, check this out! And if that doesn't fulfill your book-hungry appetite, we're also huge fans of Books for Christian Girls, where you can find great reviews on all sorts of literary treasures!)
Well, that's the end of our Beauty and the Beast Party Ideas roundup! I suppose there's nothing left to do other than, get your party started! We hope you have a smashing Beauty and Beast Party!
P.S. If you made it all the way through this article and still remember our opening challenging...the quote is from Robots. ;)
