How many times a day do we compare ourselves to others? 1? 5? 20? We are all guilty of this.
Our weight isn’t the same as others. Our skin complexion is not creamy white with rosy, red lips. We don’t have dazzling blue eyes that others could get lost in. And for those of us with faith, well, we struggle to measure up to those who are totally on fire and whose faith seems to be unshakable! (Guilty.)
But the truth of the matter is, we are incomparable. There is no one else in the whole world that looks, feels, thinks, acts, or believes as you do!
You are one of a kind.
Unique. (The word unique means, you are the soul representation of. There are no other duplicates or copies of you!)
You were created with a special design that will never again be used. All the qualities you possess are yours alone. Your kindness. Your compassion. Your humor. Your stubbornness. Every shade of your personality. These are all yours. You alone have the ability to choose which qualities you want to shine the brightest! You alone can choose to take your negative qualities and weed them out of your life.
When God created you, He had a special plan for you. He knew you before you were even conceived in your mother’s womb!
Check out Jeremiah 1:5 which says “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart”.
God knew you and set you apart for His purpose.
Check out Psalm 139:13 which says “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”
This tells me that God already knew the qualities that you have when you were born and the qualities that you would develop over time. He knew!!
Check out Jeremiah 29:11 which says “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Can you see it? Can you see just how special and precious you are? Can you see that you are incomparable and as such, you are God’s priceless gem?
God never desired for us to live with all the negative qualities that we possess, but He knows we have them, and He wants to help us break free of those things. He wants us to allow the Master Builder to finish the good work He started in our lives (Philippians 1:6), and let His love live through us, so that all of the good qualities that He gave us can shine in overabundance!
So here is my challenge. Stop comparing yourself with others! You were never meant to look, act, live, or be on the same level as others. You have your own speed of learning and growing. You have your own special gifts and callings. Accept yourself for who you are! Know that there will never be another you.
You are beautiful and dearly loved, just the way you are.
