"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." Proverbs 4:23
"I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope." Psalm 130:5 says:
Guarding your heart. Purity. It's a common topic for us as Christian girls. We've all been to the conferences, read the books, and bought the purity rings. But purity goes so much deeper than your dating life. But what does it truly mean to guard your heart? What does it mean to pursue purity and chase after what is pure?
These days, it's so easy for a girl to give her heart to any guy who smiles and says "Hi." So how can we beat the odds and live for Jesus when so many people in our world are not?
We all know that it's hard to be different when the world is telling us exactly the opposite. Culture is telling us one thing, but God is telling us something else.
These twisted messages try to convince us that relationships based on feelings are perfectly okay, normal and pain free.
Wow, what a lie!
But here's something to be encouraged by: you're not the only one! I'm standing for truth too! Be encouraged because together we're going to cover a few ways that you can not only guard your heart, but also pursue what is pure.
Girls, your hearts are far too precious to give away to a guy who isn't God's best. Surrendering your love story to Him is the only time you'll ever find true love. Whether or not you get married, be willing to allow God to write your future. Ask the Lord for the grace to be willing to follow Him wherever He goes, whether or not that ends up in marriage!
So many T.V shows, songs, movies, books, and magazines, tell us that it's completely okay to give your heart away. These twisted messages try to convince us that such a valuable thing can be thrown this way and that "without pain" and that teenage romance fantasies are somehow healthy and normal.
When we fill our minds with books, TV shows, and music that focus on romantic relationships, we find ourselves wishing that we had a guy by our side. Instead of filling your mind with the shallow lies of Hollywood, fill your mind with TRUTH!
Where can you find truth? God's Word! Read the Bible along with good Christian books and blogs. Not sure where to start? Here are some of my favorites!
