The damp, humid forest is covered with green moss. A timid pair of combat boots tiptoe trough the scene. The cautious female studies her surroundings. It's twilight. It is not yet dark, nor time to fall asleep. But it's shadowy enough for her to feel a yawn creep out of her mouth.
A
deep feeling of concern floods her heart. She wants to lie down
and rest, but something doesn't feel right. The shadows are long
and cold, and give her a creepy feeling she can't wiggle out of.
There have been rumors of war. She hears a twig snap behind her,
which causes her ears to perk and struggle to listen for noise beyond
her pounding heart. She lowers herself onto the ground and
wishes she could sleep in peace. She closes her eyes and finds
herself somewhere between the place of being awake and
asleep. Her mind is entertained by a disillusion, as she
dreams of a place like Never Never Land. Her sleep is fitful,
and she doesn't know why. She tries to roll over and block out
the fear. She simply wants to rest, and slip away to that
dreamlike state.
Little
does she know, as she dreams away the hours, she has become a
prisoner of war. Fallen captive by the weakness of her flesh,
her naïve and weaponless position has made her a simple
catch for the enemy.
She
awakens in cries of terror, as a torturous knife slits
across her arms. The cruel enemy will not kill her. No, not yet. He
will play mind games with her and make her his slave. The
girl whimpers as she wishes she could go back to sleep. But she is
now a captive of darkness. She deeply regrets not carrying,
or knowing how to use her sword.
In the crux of every
epic battle scene, there are only two positions. The conqueror and
the defeated. The warrior and the one who cowers in fear. Which
position do you hold?
You may or may not be aware.
We
are in the midst of a bloody battle. This battle is called life.
There are prisoners of war all around us. We each have friends who
are strapped down to metal chains. They're bound by fear,
depression, anxiousness, desperation for approval,
self-hatred, and self-destructive activities. Maybe you
yourself are held captive by any or all of these things.
We
can all agree...life is hard. There are so many things that try to
get us down. Bullies with cruel words, magazine covers that demand we
look perfect, parents that don't believe in our dreams, and
people we trust who have deeply hurt us. Cruel words are tossed
around like knives. Self-destructive thoughts are set up in our
minds like suicide bombs. Hatred is consumed like
poison.
We must be aware of the pain and suffering happening
around us. We must be aware that we have an enemy. We cannot deny the
fact. An evil force greater than what we can
imagine is attempting to destroy God's girls. (Check out 1st peter 5:8 & John 10:10 to know I'm not making this stuff up! ;)
In
every fairytale there is a villain. But there is also a hero. Did
you know that you are called to be a warrior
princess?
You have a sword, a weapon with which you
can triumph! The only question is...do you know how to use it?
You
have a weapon to shatter the most nightmarish of enemies. A quick,
powerful, all consuming weapon. Hebrews 4:12- says;
"For
the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged
sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and
marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."
This Sword is a spiritual weapon. God's words when spoken are
an invisible weapon to take down an invisible enemy.
"For
our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers,
against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and
against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
Ephesians 6:12
"The weapons we fight with are not the
weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to
demolish strongholds, we demolish arguments and every pretension that
sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive
every thought to make it obedient to Christ." 2nd Corinthians
10:4-5
The Word of God is a weapon that every Christian has
access to. We are to carry it boldly in the sheath of our hearts
and pull it out when it comes time for attack.
Girls, we were
not destined to be victims of evil. We were created to overcome evil
with good! The Bible makes it clear that we are more then conquers,
and we will triumph with Christ! (Romans 8:37, 2 Corinthians
2:14.)
But just like the main character in our fictional
story, many of us do not know how to use our sword. Many of us are
dazed, and wandering around in the twilight. We flirt and mingle
with evil, cuddling close with the things of this world. But
who can blame us? It's not exactly wrong, is it? I mean, it's
not totally dark...but it's not light either.
In the
Twilight...in the middle, is where so many of God's lovely
daughters have fallen captive. Their minds have been hijacked by
lies, and it's left them tortured by the enemy's sharp, stinging
knife. Many of us are bound up, prisoners in our minds.
Why?
Because we have not taken a bold stand against the enemy. We
haven't declared war against the things that displease God. We've
played with them. We've been in a grey area. Entering
the battle field of this world without the soul purpose to set
captives free is the most dangerous thing we can do. Every day we
march into our school hallways. We are warrior princesses in combat
boots and tiara's. Everyday we have a choice. Will we make a
difference and go against the status co? Or will we allow what has
always been to always be?
It's
a frightening truth...but if we're not combating against the enemy
with full speed ahead...he is combating against us. Sister,
there is no grey area. Either you're fighting to set captives free from the enemy's
camp, or you yourself are a prisoner of war.
Jesus made it extremely clear
what our mission is here on earth.
"Therefore
go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them
to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you
always, to the very end of the age."
Matthew 28:20.
Just
like secret agents, we have a mission while we're on this earth. We
were placed here to be ambassadors of Heaven! We're called to
represent a place we have never been.
If
you're anything like me, you've probably never "made a
disciple". What does that even mean anyway?! How are we supposed
to stand up against this world when the pull is so strong? How
are we supposed to love and represent a God we've never seen before?
If these questions are racing through your mind, you're
not alone. Every other girls who is reading this article right now
feels the same way. We feel inadequate, unequipped
and doubtful of this whole "change the world" thing.
How are we possibly supposed to set captives free when
we ourselves are still in chains?
Girl, I'm glad you
asked.
You know how we're going to do it?
Together.
For far too long, God's girls have put on a convincing parade
as we flaunt around with a fake mask of confidence, allowing
everyone to believe we have it all together. Isn't it time someone
takes off the mask and says, "I don't know what I'm doing
either!"?
I know I'm supposed to be a world changer, but
I can't even change my mind. I know I'm supposed to believe in God's
love, but I doubt it so many times. I know I'm a Princess, but most
of the time I just feel like a freak. I really ache for freedom, but
I wouldn't even know where to start. I want to bring my friends to
Christ, but I'm so afraid of what they might say. I really do
want to be bold and make waves, but I keep putting it off for another
day.
Do those thoughts sound familiar? Well, they
should. Because these things have been thought by every girl,
EVER.
I'm choosing to take off my mask. I see God's
call for me to embark on mission impossible. I don't know what's
going to happen, who is going to shoot me down for standing up, or
what I might discover on the way...but I'm going to take the first
step.
I've heard the cries of my captive sisters for far
too long. I can no longer remain silent and live for myself.
Something so much greater is burning in my heart. I must learn
how to use my sword and fight for those who cannot stand up for
themselves.
So just like Susan and Lucy from
Narnia,
just like Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger
Games...I'm going to
step out with my weapon. I'm going to pick up my sword and learn how
to fence. I'm going to pretend I'm a lot more confident then I
actually am. If I don't do something about it...who will?
I've
seen how dangerous it is to head out onto the battlefield alone.
I could really use some friends for the journey. We could encourage
and challenge one another. We could share fears, triumphs and
everything in between.
So what do you say? Would
you like to be my battle partner?
I
only want you to take this journey with me if you're absolutely sure.
Only if you're sick and tried of being a prisoner of war.
If
you desire to continue to flirt and play with the world, then please,
don't join this army.
"No one serving as a soldier gets
entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his
commanding officer." 2 Timothy 2:4.
God is looking for
the girls who will boldly take a stand for Him. He doesn't want
perfection....just willingness. He wants someone whose heart breaks
for the lost and abused. He wants someone who is willing to
leave the many and go to find the few.
My sisters, we cannot
do this without the support of one another. I truly want to help you
in your journey. Mission Impossible, here we come!
With man,
this task would be impossible. What kind of crazy God would take
a bunch of hormonal teenagers and shape them into a powerful army of
warrior princesses for His glory?
Yes, with man, this is
impossible. But with God, ALL things are possible.
The Word
of God is our most powerful weapon, and we need to know how to use
it. But before that, we need to know how to read it. If we spend five
minutes a day in God's Word, that's like training five minutes a day
for a battle and expecting to cream your enemy. Yeah right. We need
to get brutally honest about why we don't spend time with God...then
encourage one another to count everything a loss and surrender all to
know our King!
I have provided a totally interactive, fun,
encouraging way for us girls to get into God's Word and encourage
each other! You're seriously not going to want to miss this.
If
you want to change your world, get to know God in a new way, and be
encouraged by other girls who are doing the same, then you cannot
afford to miss this.
